"At The Ready"
I love this picture because it really captures in a beautiful black and white way, the danger of being a Hawaiian lifeguard. I captured this image during a significantly large storm swell in late 2018. This Hawaiian lifeguard was riding out the huge waves, keeping a very close eye on the surfers amongst these very dangerous 20 - 40 feet waves. At one stage, he even risked his own well-being to navigate his pwc (Jetski) in through a dangerous outcrop of rocks, to warn an unweary beach-goer that they needed to get to higher ground. That really surprised me, given the huge surf that he was contending with. As a seeker of extreme light, I also love the dramatic result of the lighting in this image also.
