There were several revitalization efforts by developers but due to political corruption and the volatile economy, many projects were left unfinished. During this process, many historical buildings got demolished. Although Asbury Park’s newly revitalized boardwalk seems to give a fresher look, to me, Asbury Park now embodies an awkward combination of the past and present, hope and despair. |
